INTRODUCTION
When the Cougars were born in early 1984 just how many of those founder members
could have imagined what they were creating? Despite numerous trials and
tribulations through the years, teams folding and fragmenting, the Cougars have
remained a closely knit family and as a result they have evolved into the team
we know today.
The state of the domestic game has been one of constant change and whilst it is not currently enjoying some of the better times of earlier years, the Cougars should feel proud to have been part of the games evolution. They have built a formidable reputation wherever they have played, and although not always one of the strongest teams they have given their all to leave no team expecting an easy game when facing them.
The Cougars have become a way of life to many people outside the team, people who have freely devoted time and effort and without whom there could possibly be no team today. Much more than just a team, more like a way of life with all segments working together towards one aim.
When the idea of a booklet to commemorate 10 years of the Cougars was first raised we were honoured to be asked to compile a record of those years, and what you now have is not one persons record, but a compilation of reports, memories, thoughts and photographs drawn from various sources. It has been almost impossible to decide what to include and what to leave out, and our only hope is that we have produced an accurate, readable, account of Cougar life which you will find interesting.
This publication is dedicated to all who have helped in any way to produce the Cougar phenomenon and we apologise if anyone has been omitted - this will be corrected in our 20 Year commemorative production.
